I HAVE MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT THIS。 Some part of me wants to rate this two stars， then another part of me wants to rate it four stars， then some part of me concluded to rate it three and a half。 （CHANGED TO FOUR STARS IN EDIT BELOW）I am actually very confused with the ending。 You all know I'm really here more for the romance and for that， I would already give this probably two stars。 The backstory of the book on the other hand， I am not liking it as much。 Nyx has to marry the Gentle Lord， aka the I HAVE MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT THIS。 Some part of me wants to rate this two stars， then another part of me wants to rate it four stars， then some part of me concluded to rate it three and a half。 （CHANGED TO FOUR STARS IN EDIT BELOW）I am actually very confused with the ending。 You all know I'm really here more for the romance and for that， I would already give this probably two stars。 The backstory of the book on the other hand， I am not liking it as much。 Nyx has to marry the Gentle Lord， aka the prince of demons， to break the nine hundred year old curse he put on them。 Okay， basically it contains "girl marries and falls in love with the bad guy"， forbidden love， "beauty and the beast" retelling， and most of all a pretty cute romance。 And yes， Nyx also has to kill him。I would half consider this as a greek mythology because the Greek gods are believed in。 They also practice some Hermetic arts。Everyone knew the story。 "Demons are made of shadow。" Demon attacks regularly occurred， and victims ended screaming with madness。 Don't stare at the shadows unless you want to go crazy mad。The story is not fast paced， if you wanted to know。 The romance builds up pretty slow， and there were a lot of moments where I got a bit bored。 Still， I gotta say， Ignifex is pretty hot and gorgeous。 （Not that that's his real name。。。）Once I got near the last seventy pages or so， I was really getting confused。 Like really confused。 When I got through the scene where Nyx was actually going to betray him， I had to go like "FUCK NO NYX" Like PLEASE WHY。 Then I had my own small sobbing moment。 Ugh- But anyways， the scene where Nyx was actually betraying Ignifex， that's where I got real confused。 Then I go through this whole process of who is Shade and who is Ignifex？ （If you don't know Shade right now， just imagine him as a big asswhole who steals women from others） And if you know you know， but when Nyx kinda had to "travel back in time" I was seriously like:And thennn all this really weird confusing shit happened and I was left more confused than I have ever been。 （view spoiler）[Was Shade the same person as Ignifex or not？ Whattttt （hide spoiler）] I still completely recommend this for the romance because it is absolutely sugar sweet。 Like I said， the backstory isn't to be dying over。 It's merely just "okay" to me。 Confusing a whole lot but I bet there are some genius' that have understood it。[3。5 star rating]EDIT: [now 4 star rating！] Okay okay okay I just reread the last pages where it all went down and I FINALLY get it。 Now that I understand， I actually like the book way better。 The romance just got even sweeter。 Like "I would die for you" sweeter。 I now understand who is Shade and who is Ignifex。 And yes there are still like fifty questions I might have about this， but I actually love this book。 Ups and downs it doesn't really matter because I am getting wayy better vibes from this。 （view spoiler）[Yes Shade is the older version of Ignifex， also the version that still as hate in his heart。 He bargained and when the hate was out of his heart， Shade turned to Ignifex。 （hide spoiler）]Sooo I would like to say GO READ IT。 I know there is a very high chance you might not like it but go read it just to see if you understand this plot twist。["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]> 。。。more

As a person who loves character-driven stories， and therefore actively reads them， I was pretty happy when I started this book。 We are introduced to our main girlie， whose heart is just filled with rage （masked sadness if we want to say the obvious quickly）。 She lashes out at her loved ones because she is not in the best place - quite literally， since she has to marry the monster because her dad is an ass。 This is an amazing setup for character development， and as I continued the book， I wasn't As a person who loves character-driven stories， and therefore actively reads them， I was pretty happy when I started this book。 We are introduced to our main girlie， whose heart is just filled with rage （masked sadness if we want to say the obvious quickly）。 She lashes out at her loved ones because she is not in the best place - quite literally， since she has to marry the monster because her dad is an ass。 This is an amazing setup for character development， and as I continued the book， I wasn't even sure which direction we were moving - Nyx going totally evil or getting redeemed。 （Which is btw fucking amazing， let MCs go feral please， sometimes they deserve to do so）God， I wish just SOMETHING happened。 But nothing did。 I felt like she stayed the same bitter， whiny girl throughout the whole story， and since the plot was basically nonexistent （I am allowed to state this because I read like five chapters after each other where she was running around the castle， and I got nothing from it but a description of doors she could NOT open， and that she was sitting next to a guy in silence with romantic and/or sexual tension） I don't even want to talk about the monster nor Shade。 The reason for that is that I couldn't give less fucks about them。 Anyway， it was disappointing， but I could imagine SJM fans liking this book （take this as a rec。 or a roast if you want to lmao） 。。。more

This book was such a page turner。 I got it yesterday morning， read seven chapters right after I got it， and then when I went to bed that night I stayed up until 3AM。 Like the weakling I am， I went to bed because I couldn’t keep my eyes open， and then I finished the last ten pages when I woke up。 I’m not usually into the whole enemies to lovers thing， but this author did it well。 Of course the things Nyx’s captor had done were horrific， but he actually had a redemption arch and character developm This book was such a page turner。 I got it yesterday morning， read seven chapters right after I got it， and then when I went to bed that night I stayed up until 3AM。 Like the weakling I am， I went to bed because I couldn’t keep my eyes open， and then I finished the last ten pages when I woke up。 I’m not usually into the whole enemies to lovers thing， but this author did it well。 Of course the things Nyx’s captor had done were horrific， but he actually had a redemption arch and character development and a backstory that made sense。 Literally the only thing I would change about the book was what I think was supposed to be the plot twist。 I wouldn’t change the actual twist， I’d just want it to be more of a surprise。 Without giving spoilers， I feel like the author made it very obvious what was going to happen with the people in the castle with Nyx。 If you loved this book， I highly recommend Stain by A。G。 Howard。 。。。more
